Ryan Hutchison
Founder & Merchandising Director
Ryan Hutchison is the founder of Hutch Merchandising and has spent more than a decade studying what makes retail spaces truly successful. He believes great merchandising blends strategy and storytelling, grounded in an understanding of how people shop, what captures their attention, and how a well-designed space can elevate a brand.
Ryan’s career includes work across a wide range of dynamic retail environments. Most recently, he served as Merchandise Manager for the Golden Isles Convention & Visitors Bureau in St. Simons Island, Georgia, where he led a complete store redesign and visual merchandising overhaul that generated a 51 percent year-over-year sales increase. He introduced new product categories, strengthened relationships across more than 50 vendor partners, built KPI dashboards to guide decision-making, and improved both average transaction value and guest conversion through insight-driven presentation.
Before joining the CVB, Ryan spent several years with the United States Golf Association, where he managed large-scale event retail and corporate merchandise programs. He collaborated with architects and designers to build a 34,000 square foot retail environment, tripled B2B merchandise sales, launched a new e-commerce catalog, and led merchandising operations for national championship events. These experiences strengthened his ability to build impactful retail experiences under tight timelines and high-pressure conditions, expertise he now brings to independent retailers, golf shops, buying groups, and destination-based businesses.
Ryan’s approach to merchandising is rooted in both creativity and operational rigor. He is passionate about analyzing data, building tools that improve efficiency, and uncovering the insights that shape customer behavior. He is as comfortable designing in-store displays as he is reviewing assortment performance metrics.
Outside of work, Ryan remains active in his community through volunteer efforts and enjoys supporting organizations and events that bring people together. His work is driven by a belief that retail is ultimately about people, and that meaningful results come from strategies designed with customers at the center.
Businesses looking to elevate their retail experience, refine their merchandising strategy, or enhance brand presentation will find in Ryan a thoughtful and committed partner who focuses on creating solutions that look exceptional and perform even better.

The Brand
The name Hutch Merchandising reflects both humility and authenticity. Although Ryan initially considered keeping his name out of the brand, it became clear that his career experience, reputation, and hands-on approach are central to the value he brings to clients. Every project is personal, and he invests his heart and energy into ensuring the strategies he develops are sustainable, thoughtful, and right for both customers and business owners. Using his own name became the most honest way to represent that commitment and long-term impact, which is why Hutch Merchandising ultimately prevailed as the perfect name for the business.
